READ MOREFirst Night/First Day is an annual event with New Year’s festivities for the whole family. The party kicks off at noon on New Year’s Eve, with family-friendly activities and performances at Copley Square. Throughout the afternoon and evening, enjoy a free figure skating show, an early fireworks display at 7 p.m., and much more.
Look for the popular ice sculptures at Copley Square, Back Bay, and Frog Pond, and marvel at the freshly carved structures weighing 35 to 40 tons. If you’re able to stay late into the evening, there will be a countdown to midnight with pyrotechnics and a light show, and midnight fireworks over Boston Harbor. Don’t let the fun end on December 31st, though — plan to stop back on January 1st for First Day celebrations, including a scavenger hunt and other free fun. First Night/First Day is a great way to bid farewell to 2017 and welcome 2018 with a bang!
